1. Overview
AirScales is a mobile application for commercial truck drivers, owner-operators, and trucking companies. The app works with compatible AirScales Bluetooth pressure sensors installed on a truck and/or trailer air suspension system.
The app receives pressure data from the sensors and uses calibration information entered by the user to estimate axle weight in pounds.
AirScales is intended for informational and monitoring purposes only. It is not a certified weighing system and does not replace certified truck scales.
2. Required Hardware
AirScales requires compatible Bluetooth Low Energy pressure sensors.
The sensors are installed separately from the mobile app. A user may install:
· One sensor for the drive axle; or
· Two sensors: one for the drive axle and one for the trailer axle.
The device ID is printed on the sensor or packaging. Use this ID when connecting the sensor to the app.
3. Installation
Install the AirScales sensor according to the separate hardware installation guide.
The sensor is typically connected to the air suspension line using an appropriate fitting. Installation may be performed by the user, a mechanic, or a qualified technician.
After installation, make sure the sensor is powered and available for Bluetooth connection.
4. Account Setup
Download and install the AirScales mobile app from the App Store or Google Play.
Create an account and enter the required user information.
If you are using AirScales independently, you may leave the “Company Code” field blank.
If your trucking company provided the device, ask the company for its Company Code. Entering the Company Code allows the company to access sensor data, calibration data, and weight measurement information connected to your account and device.
5. Connecting Sensors
To connect a sensor:
1. Enable Bluetooth on your mobile device.
2. Open the AirScales app.
3. Go to the sensor connection section.
4. Search for available AirScales sensors.
5. Select the correct device ID.
6. Assign the sensor to the correct axle, such as Drive Axle or Trailer Axle. Make sure you connect only to your own AirScales device.
6. Permissions
AirScales may request the following permissions:
Bluetooth / Nearby Devices
Used to find, connect to, and receive data from AirScales sensors.
Location Permission
Depending on your device and operating system version, location permission may be requested to support Bluetooth device discovery. AirScales does not use this permission for navigation, route tracking, or background GPS tracking unless such functionality is separately disclosed in the app.
You can manage app permissions in your device settings.
7. Calibration
Calibration is required before the app can provide useful weight estimates.
To calibrate the system:
1. Visit a certified truck scale.
2. Record the actual axle weights, including steer axle, drive axle, and trailer axle where applicable.
3. Open the AirScales app.
4. Enter the certified scale weight values into the calibration screen.
5. Save the calibration point.
For better accuracy, complete at least two calibration measurements:
· One when the truck is empty or lightly loaded.
· One when the truck is loaded.
Additional calibration points may improve the quality of the estimate.
8. Using the App
After the sensors are connected and calibrated, the app receives pressure readings from the sensors and displays estimated axle weights.
The app may show:
· Estimated drive axle weight.
· Estimated trailer axle weight, if a trailer sensor is installed.
· Current sensor connection status.
· Calibration information.
· Historical weight readings, if enabled for your account.
Use the displayed values as approximate guidance only.
9. Important Safety and Legal Disclaimer
AirScales provides estimated weight values only.
The app does not provide official, legal, or certified weight measurements. AirScales must not be used as the sole source for compliance with Department of Transportation, roadside inspection, shipper, carrier, or other legal weight requirements.
Always use certified commercial truck scales when an official weight measurement is required.
The driver and/or carrier remain responsible for safe loading, legal compliance, and vehicle operation.
10. Data and Privacy
AirScales may collect information entered by the user, sensor data, calibration data, weight measurement data, device connection information, and related app usage information.
If a Company Code is entered, relevant sensor and weight data may be shared with the connected company or fleet account.
AirScales may use anonymized sensor and weight data to improve app performance, calibration quality, and system reliability.
AirScales may use third-party service providers for app functionality, analytics, hosting, support, or other operational purposes. These third-party services may have their own privacy practices.

11. Account and Data Deletion
Users may request account deletion and deletion of personal data through the app, if available, or by contacting AirScales support.
Some information may be retained where required for legal, security, billing, fraud prevention, or operational reasons, as described in the AirScales Privacy Policy.
12. Troubleshooting
If the app cannot find a sensor:
· Make sure Bluetooth is enabled.
· Make sure the sensor is powered.
· Make sure you are near the sensor.
· Check that the correct permissions are allowed.
· Confirm that you selected the correct device ID.
· Restart the app and try again.
If weight estimates appear incorrect:
· Check sensor connection.
· Confirm that the sensor is assigned to the correct axle.
· Add or update calibration data using certified scale readings.
· Make sure the truck configuration has not changed since calibration.
